1. Intensive Properties:
Do not depend on how much you have. (Ex: density, solubility)
Depends on what the substance is.
2. Extensive Properties:
Depend on how much you have, not on what the substance is. (Ex: mass, volume)
Density (intensive) = Mass (extensive)/ Volume (extensive)
Density is a physical property. It can be used to identify what a substance is.
We will not measure density directly. We will measure two things:
1. Mass:
Find using a balance.
2. Volume:
Find two ways:
A. Regular object, use l x w x h.
B. Irregular object, use displacement.
Displacement:
ending volume-starting volume= volume of object.
